Does anyone actually love those pesky “love handles” that are hard to get rid of—even with diet and exercise? And two isn’t better than one when it comes to your chin, is it?
While the answers seem obvious, the best way to trim unwanted fat is not as clear. But with the help of Dr. Jorge Garcia-Zuazaga and the team at Apex Dermatology, patients can fine-tune their bodies with CoolSculpting. This FDA-approved, nonsurgical fat-freezing treatment uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat on your abdomen, flanks, thighs, chin and other bulky areas.
Developed by Harvard University scientists, CoolSculpting is a proven way of targeting and crystallizing fat cells. Once crystallized, fat is permanently and naturally eliminated from the body as it travels through the lymphatic system.
This non-invasive office procedure typically takes 35 to 75 minutes and patients can go to work the same day, as there is minimal swelling and no bruising.
“There is a difference between losing weight versus losing fat,” explains Andrea Fenda, Licensed Medical Aesthetician at Apex Dermatology’s Concord office. “When you lose weight, your fat cells get smaller, but they do not go away. CoolSculpting actually reduces the number of fat cells in the treated areas by 25 percent.”
“After CoolSculpting, you may not lose that much weight, but you will look thinner and your clothes will fit better,” says Andrea. “With summer right around the corner, now is the time to shed that last inch or two of stubborn fat so you can be beach-ready and get on the right path toward looking and feeling fit.”
“Sometimes, no matter how much you work out and eat healthy, stubborn fat deposits remain,” adds Andrea, who also is a certified fitness instructor and had the treatment herself a couple of years ago as a way to tone her lower abs.
CoolSculpting is ideal for people who are within 25 pounds or so of their ideal weight, although Andrea says she can treat any patient as long as there is no loose skin or visceral fat that is not pinchable.
“On average, my patients start seeing improvement within a couple of weeks and permanent results in two to four months,” she notes.
Get Selfie Ready
“In this day and age, where everyone is posting selfies on social media and Skyping on computers and looking downward, your chin profile is exaggerated,” comments Andrea, who has done thousands of procedures over the past six years. “CoolSculpting can help you get rid of your double chin.”
“In addition, I use CoolSculpting to trim the fat underneath the buttock crease, often referred to as a banana roll, and to get rid of axilla puff where the bra and armpit meet,” she says. “This also works for men with enlarged breast tissue.”
And in June, look for a new application to be introduced that can trim fat from flabby arms.
