Do you suffer from joint pain when you wake up? Are you an active person who sometimes push their body a little to far causing sore muscles? Have you had surgery and need help recovering?
Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) may be your answer.
WBC relieves aches and pains, and has been shown to improve mood, sleep, and increase your metabolism. Arctic Recovery LLC offers WBC and several other modalities to aid in recovery, including compression therapy, percussion therapy, and an infrared sauna.
What is Cryotherapy (WBC)?
WBC activates your body’s natural healing processes by exposing it to hyper cool temperatures. Developed in Japan in the 1970s, WBC is used by professional athletes, to improve performance and decrease recovery time, as well as by clients seeking recovery from musculoskeletal pain like arthritis.
Is WBC safe? YES!
WBC uses cold air, however the cooling agents never come in contact with your skin. The air is chilled using liquid nitrogen (nitrogen makes up 78% of the air you breathe). Because the temperature change to your body is superficial, your internal temperature remains constant throughout the session―and your head is kept outside of the low temperature area. In addition, a trained operator is always present, and the chamber itself is outfitted with several safety features to protect you.
What happens during a Cryotherapy session?
Before entering the sauna, our trained staff will walk you through the process, step by step. You’ll know what to expect. Your extremities will be covered with gloves, socks and slippers. Women can choose whether to wear undergarments or not, and men must wear underwear for protection. The cryosauna session will last 3 minutes. The goal is to drop your skin temperature to approximately 50 degrees. Because the air does not contain any moisture, you will feel chilled, but not uncomfortably cold. Once the session is complete, you will exit the sauna, and warm up within a few minutes.
How will you feel?
Follow up sessions are recommended for maximum results.
How does it work?
WBC tricks the brain into thinking that the body is freezing. This triggers the natural healing mechanisms that remove toxins. Your circulation increases, and fresh blood full of hormones, oxygen, and helpful enzymes are carried to your extremities and organs. This accelerates the healing process.
For chronic pain, the reduction in inflammation over several sessions will give the client long term relief of their pain.
