Your Body’s Control System
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is your body’s control system.
- Responsible for your body’s stress response
- Preserves your body’s homeostasis (internal stability)
- Regulates your body’s internal environment
Your body’s system of organs is innervated (stimulated through the nerves) by the ANS. The ANS acts largely unconsciously and system balance is critical for proper organ function, hormone balance and maximum immunity.
When your system gets out of balance, you may experience short term and/or long term dysfunction.
Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) – Short Term & Long Term Dysfunction
Symptoms of a hyperactive ANS (short term dysfunction) causes episodes of increased activity and can manifest as:
- Agitation, nervousness, irritability
- Short Sleep
- Hypertension
- High Heart Rate (>80 beats per minute at rest)
- Drying eyes, sinus, mouth
- Blocked digestion and slow bowel- constipation
- Localized activation of perspiration
Symptoms of a hypoactive ANS (long term dysfunction) can manifest as:
- Shy, introverted discouraged personality
- Anxiety, depression,
- High allergies, dermatitis
- Always cold
- Hypotension
- Slow Heart Rate (<60 beats per minute at rest)
- Nausea, vertigo
- Digestive disorders: gastritis, ulcer, diarrhea, vomiting, intestinal spasm, overweight
- Sleeps too much
Unbalance of the System is Common
The major nerve of the system, the vagus nerve, is responsible for regulation of internal organ functions (such as digestion, heart rate, respiratory rate, etc.). The vagus nerve is like the major communication highway of your body, connecting the brain to your organs and the organs back to your brain. However, it can become dysfunctional due to long term stress, trauma and poor self care.
TREATMENT
If you are experiencing any of the short term or long term symptoms your body’s control system may be out of balance.
The ANS and the vagus nerve are responsive to treatment, exercise and lifestyle modification.
Correction of the ANS is often required prior to the body responding to other treatment modalities and can be the reason for lack of progress with lifestyle changes tried in the past.
Treatment might help ease your symptoms and relieve the associated pain and suffering.
SPECIAL OFFER
Treatment requires one two hour session and a one hour follow up three weeks later. Cost of treatment $375.
