- Attitude
Why do some people succeed at getting lean and reaching optimum inch loss, and others appear to not be so lucky? It’s your attitude towards change and commitment that is the driving force. Your thinking habits are the largest part of this transformation that you CAN control. It all starts with your mindset, which is the key to your success.
One of the factors contributing to a downward spiral is focusing on negative thinking, which leads to self-criticism, self-blame, and negative expectations. It’s important to keep a positive attitude at all times.
Let’s try a few simple things that will help you shift your thought gears and give you that positive direction.
- Attractivate
Take care of all aspects of your body, your teeth, nails, hair, eyes, skin, etc. We all love instant gratification. There are a few things that you can change immediately to make you feel more attractive right now.
Remember that relaxed feeling after going to your hair stylist or barber knowing you look pretty good? Maybe you even had your nails done, and it put a little pep in your step. Right? Maybe you went to the dentist, and upgraded your smile, or maybe a new pair of glasses made you look more stylish. These ‘mini victories’ are important in the process of your transformation. Reward yourself, it makes you appreciate your commitment to your healthy image. Don’t tease yourself with, “when I lose these unwanted inches, then I’ll go buy a new outfit’. Don’t wait for then, do it NOW.
- Don’t fear the mirror
Go in front of a full-length mirror today, but before you scrutinize your body, look in the mirror and say to yourself “It’s a beautiful day, and I feel GREAT”! Now, note the parts of your body you feel are appealing to you. There’s always a part of your body that makes you feel attractive!
Start thinking of your body as something special that deserves your great care and attention. We tend to focus most of our attention on the parts we’re not fond of, but instead start to see the ‘real’ you. Imagine yourself successful, and you’ll be successful. Imagine yourself a failure and guess what? You will probably fail.
- The Mind’s Eye
Take a moment right now to shut your eyes and realistically see what you want to look like. Visualize yourself happy and healthy, young at heart and strong in spirit. Full of life! Go ahead. It’s fantastic to let go and envision the future.
Don’t be caught up with air-brushed celebrities and models that may starve themselves to thinness. They’re NOT always healthy. Yet media images continue to bombard us with cellulite-free thighs, rock-hard abs, and flat tummies that create unreasonable, expectations and leave us feeling inferior, as though we’ll never measure up. Instead look for the people you admire, have a healthy lifestyle, those you can turn to for positive inspiration.
