Change is an all-or-nothing proposition. You either do it, or you don’t. You can’t exercise three times one week and then take a couple of weeks off. Or, eat fish once and have fried chicken the next five meals, and expect to reap your desired results. This type of behavior usually results in disappointment. And, that unfortunately leads to a breakdown in your attitude and ultimately to giving up on your fitness goals. When it comes to your health…to give yourself the best chance, it is advisable to jump in with both feet.
Change is all-or-nothing
What is your true desire? Do you really want to have a lean body? Are you willing to make the necessary effort and commitment to succeed? It’s extremely important to want this change to happen so badly that you’re willing to face your problems head on and persevere with your goal no matter what obstacles you may encounter.
Persevere with your goal no matter what
Remember, the hardier your desire, the greater the likelihood of success. Change for yourself not for someone else. Even if your family and friends want you to do something about your health—it needs to come from within you.
If you’ve been on other weight loss plans and failed—it’s OK. Your desire to lose weight may be strong; however, the negative reaction from gaining the weight back may have sabotaged your self-belief. Even if you were not successful in the past, keep thinking you can do it. Why? Because, you can. I’ve seen it time and time again.
Your attitude will directly affect your weight loss success
Knowing that the weight didn’t come ON overnight, and realizing that it won’t come OFF overnight, is important knowledge. The idea of portion control and timely exercise is a proven and effective means towards helping you to reach your goal.
You must know that having setbacks is part of the process of change. You will make mistakes, and slip-ups will occur. Guess what? – It’s OK.
You will make mistakes…it’s OK
You’re going to have days where you want to give up or just binge on food all day long or not do any movement at all. This is a learning lesson. It’s another opportunity for you to advance closer to your goal.
When you have these setbacks—you MUST realize that this is normal, and that you have not failed. A Slip is not a Fall. Just dust yourself off and understand that you have many more days to correct this setback.
A slip is not a fall
If you wander off your program for a day or a week—just wander back. It’s normal not to be perfect every day on your diet or miss a day working out. These are breakdowns that you can correct and sometimes they lead to a breakthrough by coming back stronger and more determined.
Understand that every time you make a healthy choice, you have progressed. It doesn’t matter if you’re at your goal weight or not, always reward yourself along the way.
Every time you make a healthy choice…you have progressed
