The thread is actually a nonabsorable suture, which is inserted into the skin through a small injection. What happens, as in some other types of cosmetic rejuvenation procedures, is an inflammatory reaction is created in the skin (the kind that is desirable) resulting in increased collagen formation, and firmer, less wrinkled skin!
There are two different types of threading procedures we offer. The first, NuMesh, inserts the threads both vertically and horizontally in the target area, creating a scaffolding where collagen can grow in the “mesh” that is created to help plump the skin. The second, NuLift, shows more immediate results. The sutures have tiny barbs in them, so when inserted, they help lift the skin. The results are reinforced as collagen is produced. The great news is the suture material dissolves over a period of months as the collagen continues to grow. Both procedures are simple, and can be done in a single office visit, with very little or no downtime necessary. More than one visit may be needed, but each treatment will help stimulate the firmness and tightening effect desired.
Although Nova Threads® can be inserted in a number of areas, they are particularly effective in the lower third of the face, an area which has historically had fewer options to combat “jowls” or a sagging neck.
