The winter selling season can be lucrative for sellers for several reasons.
Inventory of available houses is usually more limited, and the buyers are serious about their house hunt.
As always, preparation for your sale is important. Your realtor is your best resource for information on current houses that will be competing with your home for the buyer’s attention. Be informed of current sales and the condition of those homes. Every area is different and location impacts pricing for better or for worse.
If you have photos of your home in different seasons—put them on display—your beautiful deck will not look its best under a layer of icy snow. Use lighting inside and outside to highlight certain features and warm up the home for your prospective buyers. Maintain driveways and sidewalks to be clear of snow and ice. Keep the seasonal decorations tasteful and minimal this year, and remove any decorations soon after the holiday for a fresh look. The investment of time and some money upfront will make for a smoother sale process for you.
