“You look just like your mother.” It’s meant as a compliment. When you’re in your teens or 20s, it may be. Sadly, though, I have unpleasant news. We are all aging. Our faces are aging. In your later 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond, looking like mom may not be the compliment you want to hear.
Take a close look at “The Aging Face” in this article. It illustrates why we don’t look young and fresh any longer. It’s hard to put a finger on it when you live with your face day-to-day; however, side-by-side, the cumulative effects of time are undeniable. Wrinkles, both superficial and deep, dark under eye circles, loss of volume in the cheek area, sagging, jowls, uneven skin texture and a decrease in lip plumpness take up residence in what used to look like…well…youth.
That’s the bad news. The good news is: plenty can be done about it! Microneedling with add-on procedures can treat skin texture, discolorations and a lack of firmness and wrinkles, as can a variety of laser techniques. Botox can be used on the forehead, around the eyes, mouth and neck to relax muscles and decrease lines. Dermal filler is a workhorse to make the under eye area appear more youthful, plump cheeks, reduce lines around the mouth and chin, and give a treat areas where volume has been lost. Filler can also be used to rejuvenate and contour the lips. Will you be twenty again? No, but you can look like a younger, more refreshed version of YOU! Walking past a mirror won’t deliver the same shock value. You may feel you’ve tricked mother time, and those of us at Northcoast Laser Cosmetics are OK with that! We have found, from experience, that we feel better when we look better.
If you’re not sure what, or even IF, procedures are right for you, call and schedule a consultation with one of our experienced team members. We will lead you through potential choices to address your biggest beauty concerns.
Maybe next time, the compliment will sound something like this: “You look just like your mother, only YOUNGER!”
